Breast cancer awareness month

Monday blog post #84

October is a world breast cancer awareness month. My involvement in breast cancer awareness started 4 years ago when I came to Doha and met Margarita from Ladies of Harley Qatar. She explained to me how they organize a kick off ride every year and that she is looking for more Ladies of Harley to get involved in that event.

This year I contributed with two illustrations, a pink lady  and a heart for the activities with the kids at the event. We had coloring sheets to color in and a badge machine for making badges with those illustrations. People could write names or draw something before assembling the badge so it is more personalized and made by themselves.

One couple told me how their friend was diagnosed with the breast cancer recently and they wanted me to sign the badge and write her name so they can give it to her. That touched my heart so deep.

The event took a place at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Doha on 10th October (my bday :)).

I am finally back

Finally my Monday blog posts are back!

Monday blog post #81

I got lost in custom orders and I couldn't find time to sit down and write a post. I am really sorry and I will try not to repeat this again.

Since I came back from my long vacation, which I spent mostly in Croatia, I've been working on several orders and projects...

Maybe few photos from my vacation first?

Windsor, UK

Vatican Gardens, Italy

Piazza Navona, Rome, Italy
With my nephew in Crikvenica, Croatia
With my husband in Osijek, Croatia

With my sisters in Osijek, Croatia

And if you thought I made it all up :D here are the photos of what I have been doing for a couple of weeks now.

One baby girl is on her way and I designed and made favors for guests, angel doll for her big sister and a toy for her.

For the fourth year I will be participating in Ladies of Harley Breast Cancer Awareness Day. This year it is going to be at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Doha, on 10th October from 4 to 6 pm and you are all welcome to come and show your love and support. For this time I have made an illustration which will be used for the coloring sheets and for making badges.

Freaky Friday

Monday blog post #50

Hi my dear friend!

Last week was busy over here although it was Holiday - Eid Al Adha  and no one was working for 3 days. Most of the people took vacation and went somewhere, but not me. I was working simultaneously on few projects. I'm preparing for a new Halloween event organized by handmade community QatART and art school Inspiration Station on Friday, 25th October. We are making decorations for the event, lots of activities and handmade bazaar. My corner will be photo booth with different handmade Halloween props where people will be able to pose for a freaky photo :D

Please come and support our first event - Freaky Friday!

Here is the flyer and if you have any question please contact me on cherubins3@gmail.com

On Saturday I spent few hours raising awareness and money at the Ritz Carlton Pink Ribbon Awareness Day. Unfortunately, many people were still away for Eid Holidays and not many people came to hear stories from breast cancer survivors. There was also Nicole from TheRawHealthCoach talking about health and healthy food... and me :D with my Little Pink Angel. Also my friends Aly and Monica who prepared gorgeous items all in pink and with hearts.
I managed to raise some money and so far I have raised total of 886QR which will be donated to one family in need who's member is going to therapy.

Thank you ladies for your support and giving hope to other breast cancer patients!

At the moment I'm focusing on custom orders and  and I'm doing illustrations for Christmas/Holidays products like gift tags, cards, mini calendars, bookmarks...
I will probably finish them until next Monday Blog post so see you then :)

Have a lovely week.
Sending you my smile with love,
Dominika

In the corner of my heart

Monday blog post #45

In 2011 my friend Margarita invited me to join the group Ladies of Harley as I'm riding sometimes with my husband as a passenger. The group is very active especially when it comes to charity and since 2009 Margarita has been organizing the kick off ride for the breast cancer awareness month in October.

I joined them in 2011 and it is going to be my third year that I'm involved in this event to raise the awareness and money for the families in need who's members are fighting cancer. We are going to have an event on 4th October at the Ritz Carlton Hotel and everyone is welcome!

Separate from that, I'm also working on my own project for the same purpose. I created this little angel illustration and I'm going to make postcards, prints, bookmarks, calendars with this image and the profit from the sale at the upcoming events and markets in October will go to charity.

I would like to share with you the creating process of my Little Pink Angel.

Weekend to remeber

Weekend started on Thursday night (since I live in Qatar, Friday and Saturday are days off, at least for my husband). We were invited to a bbq at our friends house and we were all positively surprised when we saw they have Bedouin style tent in their backyard with the aircon, tv and sofas. There were lots of us but we all wanted to be inside the tent so we were squeezing in to fit :) btw bbq was delicious, prepared in some special Armenian way.

I didn't want to stay long because on Friday I was volunteering with Ladies of Harley at the Breast Cancer Awareness Day. The event went really good, lots of bikers joined the ride and lots of people came to the event. My dear friend Margarita did a great job by organizing everything and me and my friends are all thankful to her for inviting us to help.

On Saturday I participated in Doha Mums Autumn Market in Radisson Blu Hotel in Doha. It was from 11am - 4pm but we had to come before 9,30am. So after a hole day spent out with Ladies of Harley I had to get up early and thank God I packed everything the night before so I had time to have breakfast.
The Market was really successful for me, especially since I got lots of inquiries for custom made angel paintings and so many compliments about how special and gorgeous my work is. What else do I need? :)))) Also few of my dear friends came to give support :)))) thank you !!! and after I finished we continued our day together by going for a lunch and then for a drink. Just a perfect weekend!!!
