Group painting and a group exhibition

Last week, my art group had a wonderful idea to meet and paint a big painting together. On the day, the weather was so beautiful, sunny and warm, maybe even too warm and we decided to paint outside. More than ten of us got together and we found a nice spot near Wawel castle under the umbrella of one of the cafe. We painted on the floor a big painting, 1x1,2m big. The painting was finished in about 3 hours and we decided to donate the painting to the IWAK (International Women's Association of Krakow) for the next Christmas Charity Auction.

Here is a glimpse how it was.

On 2nd and 3rd there was an art festival in Osijek, Croatia called ReArt. During the festival, there was many things happening and one of them was an illustrations exhibition called Never ending story. I participated in this group exhibition with one of my illustration "Girl in a field of daisies" and my younger sister, little nephew and niece went to see the exhibition since I was not in Croatia <3.

Interview for Qatar Tribune

What a great feeling when you are reading a story about yourself in a newspaper!!!

I was never enough confident in my work and my writings and was never thinking to write a press release for the magazines and newspapers. Thank God for the internet so journalist and bloggers can find you, check out your work and read about you.

I always encourage my fellow artists and crafters to start a blog or Facebook page because it's for free and that way people can see what you are working on, comment and like your work and you can get free feedback from your potential customers.

Attending fairs and similar events is also a great way for people to see your work in live, to feel it, touch it... also a great way to get feedbacks, get contacts from people so you can send them information about the next event, promotions and similar...
Sometimes, as it happened to me, you can meet journalist or bloggers there and get them interested in your story.

Museum of Islamic Art Park Bazaar in April

It happened to me this month at the Museum of Islamic Art Park Bazaar. I came to set up my table although it was a sand storm. I was trying to put my stuff on the table but unsuccessfully, so I left everything in boxes and I was just standing there for 2-3 hours holding my cards to not to be blown off my table.
If my friend Aly wasn't there I would pack my things and go in first 5 minutes but we were chatting and the time passed by. Few minutes before I decided to pack my stuff and go home one girl came to my table and asked me if I'm making those things in my boxes. She was a journalist from the Qatar Tribune. I gave her my contact and she called me few days after to meet for an interview. On Saturday, 27th April they published a story about me in Qatar Tribune newspaper and on their web site. I'm so happy and grateful for that :))))

As I mentioned in my interview, I'm preparing for the exhibition with my art group International Artists Doha from 1-4th May
All the artworks will be for sale and we are also going to have silent auction for our 30x30cm artworks.
I'm so excited!!! Will post about it next Monday :)))

Hello!

How's everything?

Yesterday evening was our last meeting before our group exhibition with International Artist Doha on 1st - 4th May. We all have our own tasks to make our exhibition successful and everyone is so excited and doing a great job :) As for myself I'm in charge of our Facebook Page to keep you posted about the artists and the exhibition.

As Qatar grows into more of a cultural melting pot, a third kind of heritage is emerging and it involves the expatriates. International Artists Doha have been inspired by this idea in their upcoming group exhibition, exploring what living in two worlds means to the individual.

I'm pretty busy with finishing my paintings for the exhibition and I find outdoor painting really relaxing and more enjoyable because of the natural light.

Tasmeem 2013

Hi, hello, welcome!

Last week was so intense as I participated in a 5 days workshop at art+design conference here in Doha called Tasmeem.

Tasmeem Doha is the international art and design conference held biennially at VCUQatar.
Over the past eight years, Tasmeem has gathered scholars and practitioners of art and design to discuss critical issues and engage with students and local communities.

Workshop I chose to be a part was FELT CASE STUDY #1 led by amazing artist Hope Ginsburg Carol Derby and Deidre Hoguet from Designtex, Corby Elford postgraduate student at VCU-Q and Richard Lombard material curator at VCU-Q.

We had a great time + we learned new skills by making felt from sheep hair + making a product/installation for our exhibition which took a place on the last day of our workshop.

After successful exhibition we had Friday off and continued with the conference on Saturday and Sunday. We could see lots of really interesting presentations, film festival, Tasmeem exploration platform, exhibitions, laboratories, fashion show. We could make print on a t-shirt and buy products from VCUQs students.

I loved the presentation by Melanie McClintock who is working on a project in Indonesia: Indoartmiks

I bought fabulous brooch and batik fabric made by students and community in Indonesia.

Last day of conference was closed with the famous architect Rem Koolhaas who is working on several amazing projects here in Doha.

Friends Workshop Exhibition of the Qatar Fine Arts Society

From 23rd May to 20th June Qatar Fine Arts Society organized a group art exhibition with 63 local and resident artists. After the opening, from 24th to 26th May we had a chance to participate in a workshop all together and we all made one or two pieces of art which we gave as a gift to the Society and as their gift to us they organized an exhibition of those work. The opening night was yesterday, on 11th September and it was really nice. Many people came, there was a lovely atmosphere with a live music and tasty food :)
Many thanks to Mr Mohammed Al Atiq for organizing such a lovely event.

Exhibition:::Workshop:::Summer Market

This Week was so busy for me and I so need a break!!!!.

1. Exhibition
On Wednesday night it was an opening of the 23rd General Exhibition at Katara. 63 local and resident artists (including me), all members of Qatar Fine Arts Society exhibited their latest work. The exhibition runs until late-June and it's located in Katara building 13 - Qatar Fine Art Society.

2. Workshop
From Thursday to Saturday in the same building QFAS organized a workshop for over 20 artists. That was my first time participating in a workshop like that and a wonderful opportunity to see the creative process of each artist and to meet them!

3. Doha Mums Summer Market
Saturday early morning straight to Ramada Plaza to set up my table for Doha Mums Summer Market. I prepared some big lips and mustache for taking photos of visitors and vendors and it was so fun!!!!

The same day, at 8pm I had to be back to Qatar Fine Arts Society at Katara to receive the certificate for participating in the art workshop.

Now it's time to relax :)))))

My first art exhibition

I'm so grateful to God, he gave me the opportunity to have my first art exhibition ever with a group of International Artists Doha in Qatar. I'm going through really difficult time since my father suddenly died and I wanted this exhibition to be in his honor. I put whole my heart and soul in all paintings I presented at the exhibition.
I had ten paintings at the exhibition:

Qatar Foundation hosted exhibition of our group - International Artists Doha [IAD] in the AaQool Atrium of the Qatar Foundation Recreation Centre in Education City from 22-25 March 2012.

The opening was on Thursday at 4 pm and the opening speech was given by His Excellency John Groffen, Ambassador of the Kingdom of The Netherlands in Doha.

A total of 10 artists exhibited their latest works that deal with wide-ranging themes and styles, from realism to abstract.

The artists were Marjolijn Stolk, Annette Wendling, Jacqui Murry, May Abulela, Pedro Boaventura, Winnifred Bastian, Pip Hoy, Dominika Bozic, Hannelore Seckel and Jesse Payne.

The artists hail from a variety of countries including the Netherlands, Germany, Ireland, Egypt, Portugal, Croatia, Australia and US.
